The grades in this family.

Print settings and mechanical properties are published per grade. A colour change never alters these numbers.

TPU 95A

The flexible grade that behaves. Firm enough to feed through most extruders at sensible speeds, soft enough to seal a joint and take a hit.

Best for

  • Gaskets and seals
  • Grips, feet and bumpers
  • Cable strain relief

Watch out

Retraction is the enemy. Keep it under 1 mm and print slow before you print pretty.

TPU 85A

Properly soft. It squashes like rubber and springs back, which is the point — and the reason it needs a short, tight filament path and patience.

Watch out

Buckles in the extruder above roughly 20 mm/s. Bowden setups are not worth attempting.

What shore hardness of TPU should I choose?

95A is the workhorse: it prints on almost any direct-drive extruder and still bends. 85A is genuinely soft and squeezes like rubber, but it buckles in the extruder above roughly 20 mm/s. Choose by how much the part must deform, not by how soft it sounds.

Can I print TPU on a Bowden setup?

Yes, with 95A or harder, speeds under 20 mm/s, retraction under 1 mm and a tightly constrained filament path. 85A on Bowden is not worth the attempt.

How do I make a printed TPU gasket seal?

Print it solid with concentric top and bottom layers, use a 0.6 mm nozzle so the extrusion is wider than the leak path, and over-compress by 15–20 % in the assembly. Layer lines are the leak, not the material.
